What To Bring On Your Hunt And Common Questions We Get
Hunter Provides: Personal gear, rifle or bow, ammunition, license and tags, gratuities, airfare, animal processing, transportation to and from the hunt, hunters orange, lodging and meals before and after hunt. It is Montana law that hunters are required to wear 400 square inches of hunter’s orange in the field while hunting with a rifle or during rifle season. If you do not have a piece of clothing that meets the 400 square inch requirement, please contact Caje and we will get this taken care of for you. The cost of the license and tags is not included in the price of the hunt. Refunds of fees will be made by the State of Montana should you not be successful in obtaining a license. Upon your arrival to camp, your guide will need to see all of your licenses and permits before going out into the field. Keep them in an easily accessible spot, and all licenses and permits are to be on you at all times while out in the field.
Arrival: You should plan on being in camp the day prior to the start of your hunt. Lodging the night before is included in the hunt, and the night of your last day of hunting. Transportation to and from camp is the hunter’s responsibility, the cost of which is not included in the price of the hunt. Meat costs and Taxidermy prices are the responsibility of the hunter, as well as shipping costs. You are not required to bring any type of bedding, as the lodge will have all bedding, pillows, and blankets. But if you would prefer to bring a sleeping bag or other bedding, you may do so.
Food: Food is covered by the outfitter, and is included in your hunt cost, unless other arrangements have been made. Highly encourage you to bring some personal snacks or other food that you would like, or to make sure and text or call Caje to arrange desired snacks, food, and drinks for your stay. “How far should we be able to shoot on a rifle hunt?” Or “What is the average shot distance?”
-We would like all clients to be comfortable shooting out to 300 yards and absolutely certain out to 200 yards. We do have and highly recommend each client to shoot their rifle prior to going out into the field for their hunt. If you do not have the proper rifle/gun for hunting Montana, we can accommodate you with one of our own rifles, just ask!
“How far should we be comfortable for archery hunting?”
-It would be ideal to have each client comfortable shooting out to 60 yards for archery hunts. There are many factors when it comes to archery equipment, so we just ask to make sure that you know your limits and your comfortability range as an archer. We will have each client shoot upon their arrival to camp.
